This is not a political blog. It is not my intention to bring up controversial issues. The goal of this blog is to talk about television shows and movies that I think people should be more aware of. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, however in the case of the post and others that may stir up complicated feelings I only intend to discuss the television show or movie that I will be highlighting. CB Strike

In 2013, JK Rowling (who is mostly known for creating the Harry Potter universe) wrote a book called “The Cuckoo’s Calling” which would turn into a series of books about a private investigator named CB Strike. Rowling wrote it under a male pseudonym (alias), perhaps because if people knew that the mind behind Hogwarts wrote another book series they would likely think it was about another fantastical adventure. But the book series is about a UK veteran who is hired by different people’s family’s and associates to find out what happened to them (whether it be a possible murder, a disappearance, etc.).

Each book has its own dedicated string of episodes. For example, “The Cuckoo’s Calling” has 3-episodes. The next book “The Silkworm” released in 2014 has 2-episodes. Every episode has you wanting more. As an audience member we want to know ‘do Strike and his assistant/private detective-in-training, Robin, get together?’ ‘What happened to these people?’ ‘Why did they happen to them?’ These mysteries are engaging and are filled with drama, some funny moments, and some intimate moments that I thoroughly enjoy.

The series originally aired on BBC, but it is available for streaming on Max. I hope you check it out and enjoy it as much as I currently am. Enjoy!
